We recently welcomed Laetitia Lise, a representative from Christian Dior, to our Northumbria University London Campus for a talk on internship opportunities available at Dior. This is of particular interest for our Advanced Practice students, as this study option for our Masters programmes gives students the opportunity to undertake an internship as part of their studies.

Dior is an internationally recognisable brand who are firmly positioned in the luxury fashion market and with the room brimming with students, Laetitia gave an inspiring talk to our students about Dior and what goes into making the brand so successful, and also discussed the internships available.

Students were eager to find out more about the opportunities available, the application process and how to best position themselves to get an internship.

Experience

As required by most roles, Laetitia advised all the students to get as much work experience as they can, including retail. This experience will give them greater knowledge of the market as well the brand.

Know the role

It sounds obvious, but with a number of roles available across several business functions, Laetitia stressed the importance of knowing the role, and yourself. As an applicant, you must know the specifics of the role including the expected responsibilities and required skills, and be able to confidently put forward why you’re suited for the role.

A lot goes into a brand

To create, maintain and build a brand such as Dior requires excellence across a number of business functions, from sales, control resource management to public relations. As such, there are many internships available in each of the departments.

To ensure the intern gains a comprehensive understanding of the business, interns are often moved around the business to work in several teams.

Interview process

Places for internships are competitive, as you would expect. Starting with an introductory phone interview to discuss the role and get an idea of the applicant, applications are then followed up with interviews with a recruitment coordinator. If successful, applicants will then have interviews with managers and regional team members.

If you’re interested in applying for an internship, visit the Dior website and remember Laetitia’s advice when making your application.

We would like to thank Laetitia for coming into the London Campus to discuss the brilliant internship opportunities available at Dior.
