Northumbria University Alumni Association is delighted to invite you to attend the first event in our London Alumni Networking series, taking place Thursday 7 February 2019, 6:30pm – 8:30pm at QA’s flagship London centre, International House, in St Katharine’s Dock.

The London Alumni Networking event series is designed to bring together alumni from across the years to re-engage with Northumbria University and our strategic partner, QA; to provide knowledge exchange; and to facilitate informal networking.

These events will each feature a short interactive talk from both QA and Northumbria University academics which integrates the latest academic research and practitioner thinking. The inaugural event will feature talks by David Walker, Portfolio Director (Digital & Emerging Technologies) at QA and Dr Gosia Ciesielska, Associate Professor at Northumbria University. The event will also be an opportunity to meet and engage with alumni and University partners, develop new networks and hear about the latest developments at Northumbria University.

David’s talk, ‘What is the role of the leader in organisations going through Strategic Digital Transformation?’, will explore the key qualities demonstrated by successful leaders in the digital age. David is a specialist in holistic Digital Transformation, his background in technology and technical strategy ensures the clients he supports take an integrated approach to Digital Transformation by aligning technology, culture, learning and business needs. He currently leads QA’s strategic Digital Transformation and Emerging Technology portfolio and works with C-Suite through Technical practitioners to close their digital talent gap as part of their transformation strategy.

Dr Gosia Ciesielska will be presenting her topic ‘Technology’, networks and strategy in the digital age’, which aims to explore the strategic and operational pitfalls of changing to an open source mode of working in a tech corporation, Gosia holds a PhD in Organisation & Management Studies from Copenhagen Business School, Denmark and MA Management & Marketing degree from Warsaw University, Poland, Prior to her academic career, Dr Ciesielska was an entrepreneur and expert on EU pharma legislation working for Polish Ministry of Health.

7pm – Welcome address and University update: Dr Guy Brown, Director of London Campus at Northumbria University

7:10pm – ‘What is the role of the leader in organisations going through Strategic Digital Transformation?’ with David Walker, Portfolio Director (Digital & Emerging Technologies) at QA & ‘Technology, networks and strategy in the digital age’ with Dr Gosia Ciesielska, Associate Professor at Northumbria University

8pm – Networking and canapes

8:30pm – Close
