Weekend teaching

As our part-time Masters programmes are specifically designed for working professionals, we ensure the 9-18 teaching weekend blocks are spread out across the 2 year course to ensure you don’t have to commit yourself to every weekend.

Self-study

A Masters is an advanced qualification which requires a lot of time and effort. As you won’t be attending classroom lectures every week, it’s important that you dedicate the time to self-study and practice to achieve those pass marks. As an MSc Computing and Technology student, you will be required to spend on average 164 hours on independent learning throughout the 2 year programme. Self-study will include:

  • Pre Session Preparation reading
  • Researching the knowledge content within each module
  • Skills development associated with practical workshops
  • Assessment preparation, development and writing
  • Online tests and quizzes

To support independent learning, you will be provided with direction from your module tutor. Throughout the 10 week module delivery, you will be expected to engage with the module content.

As an MSc Cyber Security student, you will be expected to spend 3-4 hours on self-study a week. You should also expect to spend an additional 130 hours of study per module throughout the 2 year programme.

As an MSc Cyber Security Technology student, you should expect to spend 164 hours on independent learning throughout the 2 year programme. Examples of this include:

As an MSc Professional Practice student, you should expect to spend ¾ hours on independent study per week, although this may be more in the early stages of the programme when you are developing your study skills and confidence.

Overall, each 30 credit module should incorporate 300 hours of study including completing assessments throughout the 2 year programme.
