Northumbria University is delighted to invite you to the second event in our London Alumni Networking series on Thursday 16 May 2019, 6:15pm – 8:30pm at QA’s London centre, International House, St Katharine’s Dock.

This series of events will bring together Northumbria alumni to update them about new developments at the university and working with our strategic partner, QA; will facilitate informal networking.

This event will include talks by Dr Ian Clarkson, Head of Organisational Consultancy at QA and Dr Barry Gledson, Programme Leader (MSc Project Management) at Northumbria University.

About our speakers

Dr Ian Clarkson FLPI is Head of Organisational Consultancy at QA and heads a team of consultants who specialise in building sustainable organisational capability and capacity. Ian has over 20 years’ experience in project management and organisational change, and has worked with many organisations across all industry sectors to help develop their project and programme management talent.

Ian’s talk, ‘Will the fourth industrial revolution make project managers irrelevant?’ will explore what will project management look like for generation alpha and, as the pace of the 41R (fourth industrial revolution) continues, what skills the next generation of project managers will need as well as discuss how we attract the next generation of project managers.

Dr Barry Gledson MCIOB, SFHEA, MAPM holds a PhD in Construction Project Management. Pre-academia, he worked for major construction contractors planning and managing production, and winning work, across the UK, and for a brief period in Washington DC. His research interests revolve around innovations and their diffusion into the Architectural Engineering and Construction (AEC) industries, and across wider Project Management practice.

In this talk ‘From 7 Habits and 12 Rules: Principles for modern project management practice’, Barry reflects on two seminal psychology, and business, ‘self-help’ texts, then synthesizes several principles from these that appear most appropriate, and applicable for modern project management practice.
