Last week, Northumbria University London hosted an exclusive Alumni Networking and Guest Speaking Session. John Mark Williams, a distinguished Northumbria University alumnus and CEO of The Institute of Leadership and Management was the esteemed guest speaker.
As an accomplished leader with a wealth of experience, John delivered an insightful lecture on the concept of “Future Readiness.” In an ever-evolving world, where change accelerates, the importance of being future-ready cannot be overstated. William’s delved into the reasons why future readiness is crucial, how we can achieve it, and why it has become a cliche for good reason.
During the insightful session, John explored various aspects of future readiness, ranging from trendspotting to scenario planning to digital leadership. Drawing on his extensive background in leadership development, as well as his prior experience in sectors such as oil and gas, higher education, and corporate banking, he provided practical insights and strategies to help us navigate the complexities of an uncertain future successfully.
With over 40 students in attendance, this posed a fantastic opportunity for them to reconnect, share experiences, and expand their professional network.
Arpita Mou, MSc Business with Human Resource Management with Advanced Practice, Northumbria University London- “I am now working as an HR admin with a great company and I was able to achieve this because of my degree. The Northumbria degree has realistic course content and assignments which really helped me understand the real-life scenarios in the work place.”
Malak Qaid, MSc Business with International Management with Advanced Practice, Northumbria University London, “What I enjoyed most about studying at Northumbria is being able to meet and make friends with people from so many different countries. Having international friends has helped me improve my language, as all of us have to find a way to converse and understand each other using English. Being exposed and learning about different cultures is really beneficial.”
After a successful turn out, we look forward to hosting more such events to foster a sense of community amongst our alumni.
