We’ve listed the application process steps below to make your application as smooth and straightforward as possible.

Search our courses

To apply, simply click on the ‘Apply online’ button you will see on each of our course entries.

Your application will be reviewed and our Admissions Team will let you know if you need to meet any conditions to study on your chosen programme.

Please note: Part-time students will need to pay a holding fee of £450 to secure a place on the course.

If you don’t have any conditions to meet you will need to send your acceptance form to our Admissions Team.

If you have conditions to meet, these will be detailed in your offer letter. Once these have been met then you will be issued with an unconditional offer and will need to send your acceptance form to our Admissions Team.

You will need to pay your deposit to the University.

Please note: Part-time students will need to pay £2,000, the remainder of their deposit.

Once you have paid your deposit to the University our Student Services Team will be in touch with information about enrolling you on your course.

Supporting documents

For us to assess your application in a timely manner, it is important that you provide us with the following documents:

  • Fully completed application form
  • Personal email address must be included on the application form
  • Transcripts and/or certificates (including a certified translation if not in English)
  • Passport – copy of personal details page
  • Proof of financial sponsorship if applicable
  • Reference (for part-time programmes, details of 2 referees)
  • Confirmation of immigration history including copies of previous and current visas if applicable
  • For part-time programmes, a copy of your CV would be desirable

Undergraduate students from UK must apply through UCAS. Your application will then be considered by Northumbria University. If you are accepted, we will offer you a place on the course. This decision will be communicated to you through UCAS.

UCAS codes

When you are applying through UCAS, you will need the UCAS code for Northumbria University: N77 and one of the following course codes depending on your chosen programme.

We strongly recommend that you submit your application as early as possible to allow you to complete all the preparations needed to study in the UK. After receiving an offer it can take time to arrange your finances and apply for your visa and it is important that you arrive in good time to enrol onto your course. Please refer to the Dates and Fees page.

Methods of Application

There are various methods of applying to Northumbria, depending of the level of study.

Applying online

Using the Apply online button on our course pages is the preferred option for Undergraduate and Postgraduate Taught applications. This method allows you to upload your supporting documents at time of application and automatically receive your student application number. To start your online application, use the Apply online button on our course pages.

UCAS

Applications for Undergraduate courses can also be made through UCAS.

When you are applying through UCAS, you will need the UCAS code for Northumbria University: N77 and one of the following course codes depending on your chosen programme.
