Assist. Prof. Dr. Abdulrahman Salih
Dr. Abdulrahman Salih is an Assistant Professor in Artificial Intelligence/Cyber Security, a distinguished academic, practitioner, and researcher in the field of Cyber Security and Software Engineering, with over 22 years of experience in Industrial and higher education. He currently directs three (FT) PG programmes: MSc AI Technology, MSc Cyber Security Technology and MSc Tech for Sustainable Cities at Northumbria University in the London campus. In addition to his teaching duties, Dr. Salih chairs a Small Cyber Security Research Group (CSRG) coordinated by Northumbria University and collaborated with local (UK) and International Universities, publishing research papers in international conferences and journals.
Dr Salih obtained his PhD in Cyber Security (AI) from Nottingham Trent University with four new contributions. Over the years, Dr Salih worked in leadership, management, teaching, and research supervision, QAA furthermore, he has held various roles such as External Examiner, Programme Director, Module Leader, Research Coordinator. Furthermore, He has also served as a Visiting Lecturer, guiding and mentoring students across various levels, from MSc to BSc programs and apprenticeship schemes and providing students with valuable industry experience while solving complex problems for external partners.
Dr. Salih’s contributions to the field extend beyond the classroom, with a strong portfolio of publications in reputable conferences and journals. He actively engages in the academic community as an external reviewer for international conferences, further contributing to the advancement of knowledge in his discipline. With a passion for continuous learning and innovation, Dr. Salih is dedicated to leveraging his expertise to drive impactful initiatives and inspire the next generation of professionals in Cyber Security and Software Engineering.
Academic and Industry experience
Beyond academia, Dr. Salih is well-versed in a diverse array of programming languages; (C++, Java, Python) and is equipped with the necessary skills to tackle complex challenges in the ever-evolving technological landscape embedding them into AI and Cyber Security Applications. He has actively participated in training courses and workshops aimed at enhancing his pedagogical skills and preparing for future professional milestones. He has designed a smart ERP application and a next generation IPS/NGFW for local companies in the UK. He also worked as a Cyber Security Analyst (FL) for an American System Engineering Company, Naztech Plc, in addition to his role as an advisor for a local cyber security company in London. Dr. Salih is an Academic expert and professional in the field of Software Engineering, specialising in Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security. His extensive experience includes supervising over 400+ master’s degree students and 100+ undergraduate students and coordinating/leading multiple computing modules and programmes.
