From September 2019, we will be offering the new MSc International Project Management programme at our London campus. This Postgraduate degree addresses students’ ability to manage projects across a variety of organisations, international laws and regulations, national boundaries and cultural differences.
Currently, there is massive demand for qualified, specialist project managers as the number of companies experiencing poor project outputs rises. According to a KPMG report, an ‘incredible 70% of organisations have suffered at least one project failure in the prior 12 months (of the reports publication), and 50% of respondents indicated that their project failed to deliver what they set-out to achieve’.
This MSc encourages the critical appreciation of project management practices and strategy, with a specialist focus on managing international projects.
Modules taught on the course include Strategic Management, International Financial and Contractual Management, People Management and Project Implementation. These modules aim to provide students the knowledge and skills needed to run international projects across many industries.
Large corporations have a clear incentive to hire skilled individuals who can aptly manage international projects to cope with and decrease any disruption to their worldwide operations . Skilled project managers are extremely valuable as they try to ensure projects are delivered to company budgets.
This course opens students’ opportunities in project management roles across many industries. Past Northumbria University graduates have gone on to work for multinational companies such as BAE Systems, Volvo Car Group, NHS, Siemens, IBM, Hewlett-Packard, Shell and Virgin Money. Of which, roles have included a variety of high-level project management jobs.
This master’s is also available with an Advanced Practice study option that includes either an internship or an applied group consultancy project. This study option provides students an opportunity to gain real-world business and workplace experience and stand out amongst competition in the project management sector.
