For the majority of our courses there is an early payment discount of £500.

You will qualify for an early payment discount if you pay your deposit for the academic year in advance before the following deadlines:

Start date Discount Deadline date
September £500 1 July
January £500 1 November
May £500 1 March

Other conditions are

  • You have already received an offer prior to payment
  • The tuition fee in your offer letter is more than £8,000
  • You are a self-funding student starting an academic degree or diploma programme lasting at least one full academic year
  • This may not be used in conjunction with the Latin America tuition fee scheme

Please note that the discount is applied when the funds are processed and payment has been confirmed by our Admissions Team.

If you are a self-funded student and need support spreading the cost of your tuition, we now offer an instalment plan for many of our courses.

Please note, this option is not available for students studying our Graduate Certificate, or courses shorter than one year as full fees must be paid before your CAS is issued for these programmes. Instalment plans are not available to students in conjunction with our full fee payment discount.

Step 1: When you make you application to study with us, you must request an instalment plan in writing by emailing London.admissions@northumbria.ac.uk – we will store this against your application record and include the information in your unconditional offer letter.

Students without an instalment plan in their unconditional offer letter will not be offered this option.

Step 2: Once you have an offer to study with us, you are required to pay a minimum deposit of £5,500 prior to your CAS being issued. This must be paid in advance of our advertised CAS deadlines.

Step 3: Pay the remaining fee balance in a further 3 equal instalments (an instalment plan) during the first semester of your course and before the below payment deadlines.

Course start 1st instalment deadline 2nd instalment deadline 3rd instalment deadline
January or February 28 Feb 31 March 30 April
May or June 30 June 31 July 31 Aug
September or October 31 Oct 30 Nov 15 Dec

Students who fail to meet the payment dates and flexibility offered by the instalment plans risk their right to attend their course and be sponsored to study in the UK.

For UK/EU students looking to study our undergraduate programmes, you will be able to fund your studies through Student Finance England. For more information visit the Student Finance England website.

After your application has been processed by Student Finance England, they will send you a Student Finance Entitlement letter with your customer reference number (CRN), which you should quote whenever you contact them.

Student Finance England will pay your tuition fees direct to the university.

Self-funded UK and EU full-time students will be able to apply for a Postgraduate Loan up to the value of £10,609 for the Academic Year 2018/19.

In addition to your tuition fees, you should also allow enough funds to cover your living expenses for the duration of your studies. The actual amount that you will need depends on your lifestyle, but the UKVI recommend that the minimum amount required by a single student to cover basic living expenses (e.g. accommodation, heating, food) is approximately £1,265 in London.

We understand that it’s important to budget whilst you’re studying in London with us. To help you understand what kind of costs you can expect, take a look at the average living costs in London:

  • Rent: £450 – £550
  • Food: £120
  • Social life: £140
  • Travel: £50

It’s important to note that these are an approximate monthly cost, the actual cost depends on lifestyle and will vary for each individual.
