With an esteemed background in cybersecurity and offensive security, I am presently a distinguished lecturer at NUL. My teaching remit includes premier modules on web and mobile application security and network security. My academic journey began with a Bachelor’s in Electronics and Communication Engineering and continued with a Master’s in Information Security. Parallel to my academic trajectory, I have been an independent consultant and security enthusiast since 2013, coordinating a variety of seminars on ethical hacking, offensive security, and penetration testing for both individuals and businesses. This combination of my extensive academic credentials and broad industry experience has afforded me a unique perspective, which I incorporate into the way I teach.
My teaching philosophy is profoundly rooted in student-centered learning, which fosters an interactive and vibrant academic environment. I make a concerted effort to incorporate practical examples and real-world circumstances into my conversation, thereby enhancing the receptivity and relevance of concepts from theory in the real world. I carefully plan and execute lab sessions that provide students with essential technical skills, while emphasising the importance of ethical parameters in cybersecurity practise.
On the research front, my primary focus is on the compelling convergence of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. I am engrossed in the investigation of advanced security protocols, as well as the detection and mitigation of security hazards, enabled by AI. In addition, I am interested in investigating the ethical and legal implications of AI application in cybersecurity. My objective is to navigate these novel obstacles in a way that results in a balanced and equitable outcome for all parties involved.
2013 marked the beginning of my academic career, when I became a Certified Instructor with both the EC-Council and CompTIA. Four times, EC-Council has honoured me with the Instructor Circle of Excellence award in recognition of my dedication to exceptional instruction. Since 2017, I have held the position of Senior Instructor at “Simplilearn”, a well-known digital training organisation, delivering training in CEH, CompTIA, CISA, and CISSP to various individuals and corporate entities, including Nokia, Wells Fargo, and Wipro.
Concurrently, my nine-year career in the cybersecurity industry has encompassed a variety of responsibilities. As a Consultant and then Senior Consultant, I refined my network security, red teaming, and security auditing experience. Prior to my present position at NUL, I was a senior manager for Trojan Hunt India. There, I supervised a group of over twelve professionals, and we collaborated with significant customers, such as government institutions and the defence industry.
Red teaming and penetration testing are my areas of expertise, where I utilise my analytical, innovative, and technical skills to identify vulnerabilities and create comprehensive security strategies. I’ve been able to develop a comprehensive and well-rounded profile in both academia and the industry as a result of these experiences.
