Richard’s interest in teaching stems from university days in Berlin where he taught English to politicians at the ministry for the Environment. Holding a DELTA and a CELTA, Richard taught at Universities in Istanbul for many years in his early career. Since returning ‘home’ to London he has taught on a range of EAP Pre-sessional and Business-related University courses for providers in the capital. When he is not teaching, Richard is likely planning his next walking holiday or out in the park playing frisbee with friends.
Since joining QA in the dark days of Covid in October 2020, Richard has taught Academic English programmes and Foundation Business courses with London Met, Roehampton and Northumbria University London. Since January 2022 he has been module leader for the Northumbria LD7080 Academic Language module which is part of the syllabus for seven different EE programmes. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and currently involved with the Northumbria Equality Diversity and Inclusion training programme currently focussing on Santander sponsored Union Black training. His teaching approach is rooted in the Communication method.
